Lonely Sentinel: The Sabine Bank Lighthouse

from $59.99

Completed in 1906, the Sabine Bank Lighthouse was once the most remote lighthouse in the United States. Situated in the Gulf of Mexico upon Sabine Bank, a sandy shoal approximately 15 miles from the coasts of Texas and Louisiana, it was also known as, "Eighteen Mile Light," and, "The Spark Plug of The Gulf."  The tower was dismantled in 2002, but the original caisson stands to this very day - now home to a modern steel skeleton light tower.

This early work was the first of Mr. McPhail's pieces to be offered in print form.
